About
Light and wisdom
LUXOPHIA joins lux, light, and sophia, wisdom. It is a research institute and art house for computer graphics.
Art is a new perspective.Science is a new perspective.Buddhism is a new perspective. We make them interchangeable.
What we do
LUXOPHIA carries out university-level research in computer graphics, and creates and sells the works that research makes possible. We also teach CG and build visual identities. Research and art are one inquiry, seen from two sides.
We build our own tools — renderers, geometry kernels, ultra-high-resolution image engines. Only then do relationships that off-the-shelf software cannot show begin to appear as works.
Where we are going
Today the work is that of the founder, Masaki Nakayama. LUXOPHIA is growing toward a house of several artists who enjoy exploring CG technology together — and live from the art it produces.
Proposals for research collaboration and partnerships are welcome.
Operated by LUXOPHIA LLC (CEO: Masaki Nakayama).
